## Where our numbers come from

Every rate, bracket and threshold comes from a primary source: IRS revenue procedures and publications, the Social Security Administration and each state's department of revenue. Each data file records the source URL and the date it was last checked.

## How we verify them

- New figures are extracted once a year, when the IRS and the states publish them (usually October to December).
- Every change is checked line by line against the official source before it goes live.
- Automated tests compare our results with the fixed amounts printed in the IRS rate tables and with independent tax models.

## What our estimates are not

TaxWren gives estimates for planning. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice. Your actual tax depends on details we do not ask about; each calculator lists what it assumes.

## Corrections

If you find a number that does not match an official source, tell us and we will check it and fix it. Corrections are noted on the page's last-updated date.
